Introduction
In October 2006, Verigo Incorporated will launch an innovative wireless logbook service to Western Canadian truck drivers and trucking companies. Our wireless logbook service will provide an immeasurably improved system for hours of service compliance over the traditional paper log sheets that have been used in North America since 1939. The Verigo wireless logbook will streamline the collection and processing of drivers' daily log sheets using proprietary software that operates on a web enabled Pocket PC cell phone.
We believe that our wireless logbook service will:
- improve highway safety
- reduce administrative costs of regulatory compliance
- save time for professional drivers
- improve driver compliance to the regulations by making complex calculations and interpretations of the regulations invisible to the driver
- make it easier to record accurate logbook entries and more difficult to falsify entries
- provide a more effective means of reducing driver fatigue
- reduce the time and cost to complete, file, review and maintain daily logs
- increase the utilization of driver time to generate their earnings as well as trucking company revenues
The Verigo logbook system reduces the time, cost and burden of complying with hours of service regulations for drivers and trucking companies by automating five of the six manual log sheets processes. Drivers are only required to make simple touch screen entries to complete their log sheet. The software program makes all calculations, provides an onscreen display that meets the requirements for roadside inspectors, and e-mails a copy of the driver’s daily log sheet to the trucking company or any other person authorized by the driver to receive a copy. The Verigo wireless logbook system is 100% compatible with existing hours of service management systems in North America.
